The Jewish Healing Society is committed to fostering a supportive environment for Jews in psychedelic medicine and science, ensuring that Jews can learn about, advance research on and obtain safe access to the benefits of psychedelics and without discrimination and fear.
The Jewish Healing Society works to achieve two main objectives: bringing together resources to support Jewish professionals involved in psychedelic medicine and supporting the creation of psychedelic infrastructure that acknowledges and celebrates Jewish life and culture.
As we stand on the cusp of normalizing the use of psychedelic medicines, the psychedelic community is at a troubling crossroads. Though often heralded as a bastion of liberalism, open-mindedness, and inclusivity–and regardless of the fact that Israel is one of the world’s leaders in psychedelic research, therapy, and innovation–calls within the community for a boycott of those who speak at conferences in Israel or do business there are gaining momentum.
This is both counterproductive and at odds with the very purpose of these medicines, which show profound and unprecedented promise in healing personal, cultural, and ancestral trauma.
But instead of providing support to Jews worldwide who are being isolated and targeted–or unequivocally denouncing terrorism–some psychedelic communities have been perpetuating and harboring hate and discrimination.
The psychedelic world needs a Jewish voice, and Jews need a home in psychedelics without
cultural shame or fear. As researchers, clinicians, and caretakers dedicated to fostering greater healing and understanding, we need to prioritize the fundamental principles of empathy and community that underscore the essence of psychedelics.
We must create safe spaces where Jews can access psychedelic treatments, connect, and explore without discrimination, fear, or cultural shame. Especially with renewed research examining the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics for treating depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, psychedelics now more than ever offer tremendous opportunities for safeguarding the spiritual and mental health of Jewish communities in Israel and elsewhere.
The psychedelic world needs a Jewish voice and Jews need a home in psychedelics without cultural shame or fear.
