Remembering October 7: Support & Prayer Group

Registration now closed

Support & Prayer Group

A Community Gathering

Join us for a solemn Zoom gathering to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the October 7th attacks by Hamas in Israel, a day that brought immeasurable tragedy and loss.

This event of remembrance and prayer will bring our community together in solidarity as we honor the memory of those who perished, hold space for those still suffering, and unite in hope for peace.

Since October 7, many of us have experienced discrimination, shame, or fear. These experiences have left us feeling overwhelmed, angry, paralyzed, sad, betrayed, or confused. We will co-create a space for sharing and witnessing — especially for the feelings that we might hide or minimize elsewhere. During our time together, we will be able to both speak and listen from the heart.

Together, we will recite the Mourner's Kaddish, offer prayers for the safe return of the hostages who remain in captivity, and pray for the protection of the Israeli Defense Forces. We will also lift up prayers for innocent civilians in Gaza who have been affected by this conflict, pray for healing for all who have been wounded in body and spirit, and conclude with a collective prayer for lasting peace in the region.

Please join this meaningful occasion of reflection, compassion, and shared humanity.

This will be a politics-free, debate-free space (please see rules for engagement below).

Container Agreements

Defining Container

“Container” refers to the secure and supportive space we co-create; a space in which we can express and explore our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Because our container is an essential element to the healing process, all participants are required to respect our Container Agreements, which include:

1. Confidentiality and trust

I will hold in confidence the identities of the other participants and the personal nature of what they share. I will not record the meeting. To help others feel my trustworthiness and presence, I will keep my camera on during the entirety of the group meeting.

2. Derech eretz (behaving in a respectful way)

I will listen with respect, non-judgment, and compassion.

3. Emotions instead of politics

I welcome emotions, both those of others and my own. To help all share from the heart without feeling judged or criticized, I will abstain from corrections, fact-checking, and debate.

4. Chesed (loving kindness)

I will be mindful of my own judgements and projections as they arise, and when they do, I will choose kindness.

5. Speaking from the heart

I will not pre-script what I say, but instead speak from the heart in the moment when/if I speak. I will support the nervous systems of all by avoiding sharing graphic details of violent or disturbing content.
